New shop hopes for sweet success

A new sweet shop in Sheerness High Street has been officially opened by Gordon Henderson MP.

Hopwood’s Choice, owned by Kevin and Jackie Hopwood, is a small traditional sweet shop providing a friendly service and sells local homemade chocolate and fudge.

Kevin Hopwood said,

“The help and support of the townsfolk and retailers has been overwhelming in helping Jackie and I realise our dream of integrating with our little sweet shop and bringing our sweets and treats to the community.

“We have made lots of new friends and hope to make many more on our journey to excel in high class chocolate and confectionary.”

Mr Henderson added,

“It is great another empty shop has been filled in the high street and by a small, independent, family-run business.

“I was impressed by the selection and standard of the confectionary available and enjoyed some of the chocolate gingers on offer.

“I wish Kevin and Jackie well with their new business and hope it encourages other local people to set up their own businesses and realise their dreams.”
