Charities wanted for fiery fundraising challenge

The Rotary Club of the Isle of Sheppey is looking for a number of charities to take part in its fiery fundraising challenge of Firewalking.

Firewalking is the act of walking barefoot over a bed of hot embers or stones.

The event will take place on Saturday 14th July from 6pm at The Aviator Pub in Queenborough, Kent. Participants must be over 18-years of age and attend a special training session on the evening.

Gordon Henderson MP is one of a number of participants who has signed up to the challenge. He said:

“I am conscious of the need for my local charities to raise funds in an increasingly difficult economic climate and so I encourage them to take part in this exciting new fundraising challenge. I am particularly looking forward to trying it out myself and hopefully not getting burnt!”

Any charities that would like to take part are required to pay a £30 registration fee per participant; however, this should be easily recovered from sponsorship money. For further details and to receive a registration and sponsorship form, please contact Louise Henderson on 01795 881016 or by email:
