MP welcomes rural broadband approval

Gordon Henderson MP has welcomed a Government announcement that it is to roll out its superfast rural broadband programme, costing £530 million.

The Government hopes to provide superfast broadband to the rural parts of Sittingbourne and Sheppey by summer 2013.

The Government have plans also to invest £150 million in the ‘Mobile Infrastructure Project’, which will improve mobile signal where coverage is poor or non-existent.

Mr Henderson said,

“This is fantastic news for my constituents and local businesses, particularly on Sheppey, who will benefit from better connectivity.

“I hope the Mobile Infrastructure project will also be given approval in the future, as mobile signal for example, towards the eastern end of the Island is very poor and needs improving.”
