MP welcomes additional funding for Adult Social Care in Kent

Gordon Henderson MP, Member of Parliament for Sittingbourne and Sheppey, has welcomed news that Kent County Council is to receive an additional £6 million this winter to spend on Adult Social Care services in the county.

The government has provided the extra £240 million across the country to help ensure people who have been in hospital can return to their own homes more quickly, freeing up hospital beds during the winter period.

Gordon said, “I welcome this news about funding for Adult Social care in Kent, and am delighted that, at over £6 million, Kent’s is the largest allocation to any authority in England, greater even than cities such as Birmingham.

“This money is intended to allow more people to leave hospital when they are fit to do so, unblocking beds for patients during the winter period, when we all know our hospitals are stretched and at their busiest.”
