MP launches new Business website and takes part in Business Q&A Sessions

Local MP, Gordon Henderson will be holding the official launch of his new Sittingbourne and Sheppey Business Link website on 11th February 2011 at the Kent Science Park.

The Sittingbourne and Sheppey Business Link ( is the first business website to be set up by an MP in the UK. The website, which is free to use has been set up to:

• Address common problems facing businesses.
• Ensure that business owners who register with the website have a direct and immediate means of contacting their MP to ask questions or seek advice.
• Allow business owners to access business news, local and national government contracts available, information on training and skills and much more.

Mr Henderson will also be hosting informal business breakfasts. Any business owners who would like to attend the first breakfast, which takes place on 28th January 2011 at Hempstead House, can make a booking by visiting the website.

Mr Henderson said,

“Over the next five years one of my top priorities will be to help local companies get through the tough economic challenge that our country faces. As and when the economic climate improves, I want those businesses to be better placed to expand and provide the extra jobs our people need.

“One of the ways in which I can achieve that goal is by ensuring that local businessmen and women have easy access to advice and are able to get quick answers to any questions they might have about Government policy.

“As a first step I have set up this Sittingbourne and Sheppey Business Link website to provide the local business community in Sittingbourne and Sheppey with a direct line to me, their Member of Parliament.”

The launch of the website will follow a Q&A session with local business people at the Kent Science Park which is one of a series of four business Q&A sessions throughout 2011, giving local business owners the opportunity to ask questions of Mr Henderson.

The sessions will run from 9am – 11am, following a successful inaugural event last September. Local business owners are invited to attend the event free of charge, however, due to high demand advanced bookings are required by emailing
