MP receives assurance on Minor Injury Unit

Gordon Henderson has received an assurance from Ann Sutton, Chief Executive of the Kent and Medway NHS Cluster, that the Minor Injury Unit at Sheppey Community Hospital is NOT facing closure.

The assurance comes after weeks of uncertainty after the Minor Injury Unit was forced to temporarily close due to long term staff sickness and residents on Sheppey were asked to go to Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital for treatment as an alternative.

Ann Sutton confirmed to Mr Henderson that she is working hard to return the Minor Injury Unit back to a 12 hour a day, 7 days a week service as quickly as possible.

Mr Henderson said,

“I am pleased to accept this assurance, however, I will continue to monitor the situation carefully to ensure my constituents on Sheppey and the holiday makers who stay over the summer months have access to a Minor Injury Unit.”
