MP reminds constituents to top up their gas and electricity meters

Local MP, Gordon Henderson would like to remind his constituents to top up their gas and electricity meters at local PayPoint shops over the Christmas and New Year period.

PayPoint retailers will be open during the festive period, excluding bank holidays, so that local people can make sure they are able to cook a Christmas dinner, keep warm as the weather gets colder, top up their mobile phones and make various other payments.

Peter Brooker of PayPoint said,

“The run up to Christmas is always frantic, so it’s easy to forget to make sure you top up your utility meters ahead of the holiday. But there’s no reason to panic if you do run out – because PayPoint retailers are at the heart of their communities, providing a local service to their customers when no-one else is there for them.”

Mr Henderson said,

“I am concerned that some of my constituents might be hit hard by the severely cold weather that is forecast over the next couple of weeks.

“I am particularly worried about those who use meter payments for their gas and electricity. It is so easy to run out of credit at this time of year and I would urge people to remember they can top up their accounts at their PayPoint in their local shop.”

PayPoint retailers can be identified by the distinctive yellow and purple logo or alternatively, constituents can find their local PayPoint retailer by visiting:
