Warm welcome for energy initiatives

Gordon Henderson MP has launched a new website as part of his campaign to help local people keep warm this winter. The website will offer advice about how to lower energy bills, where to find the best deals and how to be more energy efficient in the home.

The website is part of the ‘Keeping Warm in Winter’ campaign that Mr Henderson has been running. Mr Henderson will also be hosting two energy advice surgeries sponsored by British Gas in the early part of 2013; one in Sittingbourne and one in Sheerness.

There will be representatives from British Gas and the Citizens Advice Bureau available at the surgeries to help anyone who does not understand their bills and to offer advice about ways of reducing their energy consumption. In addition there will be leaflets available from other organisations who offer advice.

Anyone who would like to book a 15 minute slot at an advice surgery should call Mr Henderson’s constituency office on 01795 423199.

Mr Henderson said,

“I know that a number of my constituents will struggle to pay their bills this winter and some of them will simply not understand what can be a quite complicated billing system.

“Many people, particularly the more vulnerable in our community, do not know where to turn for advice and that is why I am running this campaign.

“The website and advice surgeries have been set up to provide information and links to the companies that can give advice and help on the energy related issues. I would urge anyone experiencing problems with their energy bills to seek help by contacting my office.”

The new website can be found at the following address:

Details of the energy advice surgeries are as follows:
